Description
The Avanos 181000 (formerly Halyard/Kimberly-Clark) is a Universal Nerve Block Tray. Unlike the specific epidural or spinal trays we’ve discussed, this kit is designed to be a versatile "base" for a wide variety of peripheral nerve blocks and pain management procedures.
It provides the fundamental sterile components required for most blocks, allowing the clinician to add their specific needle of choice (such as an echogenic needle for ultrasound-guided blocks).
Key Features
Universal Design: This tray is "needle-neutral," meaning it contains all the prep, numbing, and fluid management supplies but typically excludes the primary block needle. This allows facilities to standardize their prep kits while choosing different needles for different procedures.
Syringe Labeling System: Includes a comprehensive set of pre-printed medication labels. This is a critical safety feature to prevent medication errors, ensuring that Lidocaine, Bupivacaine, and Saline are clearly identified during the procedure.
Alcohol-Repellent CSR Wrap: The tray is wrapped in a large 30" x 30" alcohol-repellent wrap, which serves as a wide sterile field that resists strike-through from prep solutions or blood.
Needle Stick Pad: Includes a dedicated safety foam pad for the secure organization and disposal of sharps (scalpels and needles) throughout the procedure.
