Description
The CRG-BASIC is the foundational radiofrequency (RF) generator in the Avanos pain management portfolio. It is an 80-watt system designed to deliver controlled RF energy for nerve ablation to treat chronic pain.
Technical Specifications
Channels: 4 Independent Channels
Allows the clinician to treat up to 4 sites simultaneously.
Each channel can be started, stopped, or adjusted individually.
Power Output: Maximum of 80 Watts.
Treatment Modes:
Standard (Thermal) RF: Continuous energy used to create a heat lesion (typically at 80°C).
Pulsed RF: Delivers bursts of energy for neuromodulation without destructive heat (typically at 42°C).
Cooled RF: Compatible with the Quad Pump Unit (QPU) for specialized water-cooled procedures (e.g., COOLIEF*).
Dual Bipolar: Creates a "strip" lesion between two probes for broader coverage.
Interface: Large color Touchscreen with real-time graphing of temperature and impedance for all four channels.
Safety: Integrated self-test diagnostics and automatic shut-off if impedance or temperature limits are exceeded.
Key Features
Independent Control: Clinicians can customize parameters for each probe independently, which is useful when treating different spinal levels or nerve types in a single session.
Automatic Probe Recognition: The system detects the type of cable and probe attached, automatically loading the appropriate software defaults to minimize setup errors.
Physician Profiles: Supports saved user settings, allowing doctors to quickly toggle to their preferred time, temperature, and treatment mode defaults.
Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Support: Provides detailed procedure summaries and logs that can be exported or reviewed on-screen for documentation.
Intuitive Troubleshooting: Displays clear, text-based error messages (e.g., "Check Dispersive Electrode") rather than cryptic error codes, facilitating faster resolution during procedures.
Hardware & Compatibility
Probes: Compatible with all Avanos/Halyard Nitinol, Stainless Steel, and Single-Use probes.
Cables: Uses Multi-RF Therapy Cables (such as the CB2D series) for standard RF and Cooled RF cables for water-cooled procedures.
Dispersive Electrodes: Requires a grounding pad (Return Pad) to complete the electrical circuit for monopolar procedures.
