Clinical Indications
This tube is indicated for patients with a functional gastrointestinal tract who are unable to meet their nutritional or hydration requirements through oral intake. Specific medical use cases include:
Neonatal/Infant Support: For premature infants with an immature suck-swallow-breathe reflex or those with increased metabolic demands (e.g., congenital heart disease).
Neurological Impairment: Patients with dysphagia or unsafe swallow at risk for aspiration.
Failure to Thrive: To supplement caloric intake when oral feeding is insufficient for growth.
Clinical Settings: Commonly utilized in NICU, PICU, and pediatric wards, as well as home care for chronic conditions like cystic fibrosis or oncology.
Key Features
Non-Weighted (Clear) Tip: The absence of a tungsten weight makes this tube lighter and more comfortable for infants and small children. The clear tip bolus also allows for easy visual inspection.
Integrated Flow-Through Stylet: Comes with a braided stainless steel stylet to provide structural rigidity during insertion. The "flow-through" feature is critical for healthcare providers to aspirate gastric contents or perform air insufflation to verify placement while the stylet is still in the tube.
ENFit Safety Connector: Equipped with the purple ISO-standard connector. This prevents accidental misconnections with IV lines or other non-enteral devices, which is a mandatory safety standard in modern pediatric and neonatal care.
ULTRA-LITE* Polyurethane: Stronger and more durable than silicone, this material allows for thinner walls and a larger internal lumen. This maximizes the flow of formula and reduces the risk of clogging in this very small 6 Fr diameter.
Anti-Clog Technology: Features the ULTRA* anti-clog bolus at the tip. The exit port is designed to be slightly larger than the internal diameter of the tube to prevent the accumulation of formula and medication solids.
Placement Verification: The tube is fully radiopaque for clear X-ray confirmation and includes centimeter markings starting at the tip to help monitor for any migration or displacement.
