Description

The kit consists of two main pieces:

The Base: A white, circular foam-backed plastic plate that rests against the patient's abdomen.
The Cover: A clear or white plastic "cap" that snaps over the base to lock the tube into its horizontal, right-angle position.

Reduced Trauma: By holding the tube at a right angle, it prevents the tube from "tugging" directly upward, which reduces irritation and the growth of hypergranulation tissue around the site.
Low Profile: It allows the 12 Fr tube to lie flat against the stomach, making it much easier to wear under standard clothing.
Airflow: The base is designed with small ventilation gaps to allow the skin underneath to "breathe," reducing the risk of moisture-related skin breakdown.

The "Gap" Rule: The RA-0012 should not be pressed tight against the skin. There should be about a 2mm to 3mm gap (roughly the thickness of a nickel) between the base and the skin to prevent pressure necrosis.
Cleaning: Use a cotton swab with mild soap and water to clean under the base daily. Ensure the area is dried thoroughly afterward.
Rotation: It is standard practice to rotate the base 1/4 turn (90 degrees) daily. This prevents the same area of skin from being under pressure constantly.
