Description
This is the largest standard size in the CORGRIP* lineup. It is primarily used to secure large-bore decompression tubes, such as Salem Sump™ or irrigation tubes, in adult patients who are at high risk for tube dislodgement (e.g., patients with altered mental status, those in the ICU, or those requiring long-term decompression).
Key Features
Septal Bridling Technology: The system creates a physical anchor by looping a biocompatible polyester umbilical tape around the nasal septum. This "bridle" prevents the tube from being pulled out, even if the patient tugs on it.
18 French SSL Clamp: The kit includes a specific Slot-Slide-Lock (SSL) clamp designed to fit 18 French tubes. This clamp is color-coded Tan for easy size verification.
Improved Patient Safety: By preventing accidental tube removal, it eliminates the need for repeated "blind" re-insertions, which reduces the risk of esophageal perforation and misplaced tubes in the lungs.
Preserves Skin Integrity: Because the anchor is internal, it avoids the use of strong adhesives on the nose. This is particularly beneficial for elderly patients or those with fragile skin who are at risk for medical adhesive-related skin injuries (MARSI).
Clinical Efficiency: Reduces the nursing time and hospital costs associated with replacing tubes and performing follow-up X-rays to confirm placement.
