Description
this is a safety accessory used to prevent patients from accidentally pulling out or displacing their NG/NI tubes. It is specifically designed for use with adult patients in high-acuity settings, such as the ICU or neurology wards.
Key Features
Magnet-Aided Placement: The system uses two flexible catheters (one pink, one yellow) with magnets at the tips. These are inserted into the nostrils and "connect" behind the vomer bone (nasal septum).
Umbilical Tape Deployment: Once the magnets click together, a piece of biocompatible, long-lasting polyester umbilical tape is pulled into place. This tape forms a loop around the nasal septum that serves as an anchor for the feeding tube.
Slot-Slide-Lock (SSL) Clamp: The "25-014" part number specifically includes the Yellow 14 French SSL clamp. This clip attaches the umbilical tape loop directly to a 14 Fr feeding tube (or a Salem Sump tube).
Prevention of Re-Insertion: By securing the tube, this system helps avoid the trauma, cost, and X-ray exposure associated with frequent tube re-insertions.
Adult Indication: Indicated for use with enteral feeding tubes 8 Fr and greater, and decompression tubes up to 18 Fr.
