The 10240 is an Avanos Laparoscopic Introducer Kit* for the primary placement of gastrostomy feeding tubes. While similar to the 10230, this specific kit is sized for the placement of 16 Fr MIC* or MIC-KEY* Gastrostomy Feeding Tubes.
It provides a comprehensive set of tools designed to simplify the surgical creation of a stoma under laparoscopic visualization.
Key Features
20 Fr Serial Dilator: Includes a telescoping dilator that expands the stoma tract to 20 Fr, providing the necessary clearance for the smooth insertion of a 16 Fr balloon-retained feeding tube.
Integrated Peel-Away Sheath: The dilator is equipped with a sheath that can be "peeled away" once the feeding tube is in position, ensuring the tube is seated securely without trauma to the tract.
SAF-T-PEXY T-Fasteners:* Includes four pre-loaded T-fasteners used to anchor the stomach wall to the anterior abdominal wall. This "pexy" procedure is essential for creating a safe, permanent tract and preventing leaks into the peritoneal cavity.
Over-the-Wire Stoma Measuring Device: A specialized tool that allows the surgeon to accurately measure the distance from the stomach wall to the skin. This measurement is vital for selecting the correct shaft length of the MIC-KEY* tube.
Safety Components: The kit features an 18 G safety introducer needle and a #11 safety scalpel to reduce the risk of accidental sharps injuries during the procedure.
