The Avanos 0100-16LV is a MIC* Gastrostomy (G) Feeding Tube. This is a traditional-length (long) tube designed for patients who require long-term enteral nutrition, medication delivery, or gastric decompression.
The "LV" (Low Volume) designation means it is equipped with a smaller internal retention balloon, specifically designed for pediatric patients or small adults whose stomach capacity requires a more compact internal profile.
Key Features
16 French Diameter: A mid-sized bore that balances high flow rates with a smaller stoma footprint, making it one of the most common sizes for older children and smaller adults.
3–5 mL Low Volume Balloon: The internal silicone balloon is designed for a low-volume fill. This prevents the balloon from taking up too much space in a smaller stomach or causing a "gastric outlet obstruction" (blocking the path to the small intestine).
Recessed Distal Tip: At the recommended fill volume, the distal tip is recessed inside the balloon. This helps prevent the plastic tip from rubbing against the stomach lining, reducing the risk of irritation or ulcers.
