Description
The Avanos 0100-20 is a MIC* Gastrostomy (G) Feeding Tube. It is a traditional-length (long) tube designed for adult and adolescent patients who require long-term enteral nutrition, medication delivery, or gastric decompression.
This model is a 20 French diameter tube, which is one of the most common standard sizes used in clinical practice. It offers a larger bore than the 14 or 16 French models, allowing for easier flow of formulas and reduced risk of clogging.
Key Features
20 French Diameter: A widely used size for adults that accommodates most standard enteral formulas and medications with ease.
7–10 mL Inflatable Balloon: Features an internal medical-grade silicone retention balloon used to anchor the tube securely against the stomach wall.
Recessed Distal Tip: When the balloon is inflated to the recommended volume, the distal tip is recessed. This design is "atraumatic," meaning it helps prevent the plastic tip from irritating or eroding the stomach lining.
Medical-Grade Silicone: Built from high-clarity, biocompatible silicone that is soft and flexible. The transparent material allows for easy visual inspection of the tube's interior to check for residue or clogs.
SECUR-LOK* External Retention Ring: A sliding bolster that holds the tube at the skin level. Its ventilated design allows air to circulate around the stoma to prevent moisture buildup and skin breakdown.
Universal Dual-Port Head:
Feeding Port: For nutritional formula.
Medication Port: A secondary port that allows for flushing or meds without disconnecting the main feeding line.
Radiopaque Stripe: A longitudinal line runs the length of the tube to allow for clear visualization and position confirmation under X-ray.
