Description

The 0143-24 is an Avanos MIC-KEY* Bolus Feed Extension Set.

This set is the longer version of the 0143-12. It is designed for bolus feeding (large volumes delivered quickly) and features a straight connector rather than a right-angle one.

Product Specifications

  • Model Number: 0143-24

  • Length: 24 inches (approximately 60 cm).

  • Connector Type: ENFit* (ISO 80369-3 compliant). It features a threaded safety connector to prevent accidental connection to non-enteral systems.

  • Tube Orientation: Straight (SECUR-LOK* Straight) connector. Unlike the right-angle sets, this attaches and extends straight out from the feeding port.

  • Tubing Diameter: Large-bore (wide) tubing to allow for efficient flow of thicker formulas or blended diets.

Key Features

  • Extended Reach: The 24-inch length provides extra mobility and reach compared to the standard 12-inch sets, which is helpful for patients who need more distance between themselves and the feeding syringe or bag.

  • SECUR-LOK* Mechanism: Uses the standard MIC-KEY* "lock-and-key" connection. The connector is inserted into the button and rotated to lock it securely.

  • Bolus Feeding Efficiency: The straight design and wide-diameter tubing offer the least resistance, making it the most efficient choice for pushing formula through a syringe by hand.

  • Safety Materials: Made with a DEHP-free formulation and is natural rubber latex-free.

  • Integrated Clamp: Includes a slide clamp to manage flow and prevent leakage when the syringe is disconnected.

Usage and Maintenance

  • Compatibility: Compatible with all MIC-KEY* low-profile Gastric (G), Jejunal (J), and Gastric-Jejunal (G-J) feeding tubes.

  • Single Patient Use: Intended for use on a single patient only. For hygiene and to maintain the integrity of the plastic, it is generally recommended to replace the set every 2 to 4 weeks as directed by a clinician.

  • Cleaning: Thoroughly flush with warm water after every feed to prevent clogs, especially when using thicker bolus formulas.
