Description

The Avanos 0141-12 is a MIC-KEY* Bolus Feed Extension Set.

Unlike the continuous feed set we just discussed, the bolus set is designed for "bolus" feeding—delivering a larger volume of formula over a shorter period, often using a syringe or gravity.

Product Specifications

  • Model Number: 0141-12

  • Length: 12 inches (approximately 30 cm).

  • Connector Type: ENFit* (ISO 80369-3 compliant). It features the standardized threaded connector for enteral safety.

  • Tube Orientation: Straight connector. Unlike the right-angle set, this one attaches and extends straight out from the button.

  • Tubing Diameter: Large-bore tubing to allow for the thicker consistency of blended foods or high-calorie formulas.

Key Features

  • SECUR-LOK* Mechanism: Uses the standard MIC-KEY* "lock-and-key" connection. You insert the black tip into the button and rotate it to lock it in place.

  • Bolus Feeding Support: The straight connector and wider tubing minimize resistance, making it much easier to push formula through with a syringe or allow it to flow quickly via gravity.

  • DEHP-Free and Latex-Free: Constructed from medical-grade materials to ensure patient safety and compatibility.

  • Standardized ENFit Port:* Designed to connect securely to ENFit* syringes or gravity bags, preventing accidental misconnections with non-enteral medical devices.

Usage and Maintenance

  • Compatibility: This extension set works with all MIC-KEY* Gastric (G), Jejunal (J), and Gastric-Jejunal (G-J) feeding tubes.

  • Cleaning: It is critical to flush this set thoroughly with warm water after each bolus feed to prevent formula from drying and clogging the larger tube.

  • Replacement: To maintain hygiene and plastic integrity, these sets are typically replaced every 30 days.
