The Avanos 0230-18-4.5 is a MIC-KEY* Low-Profile Jejunal (J) Feeding Tube Kit. This specialized device is used for patients who cannot receive nutrition through the stomach and require direct access to the small intestine (jejunum).

This specific model features an 18 French diameter and a 4.5 cm stoma length. This is currently the longest standard stoma length produced for the MIC-KEY* Jejunal line, specifically engineered for patients with a very thick abdominal wall or those experiencing significant localized edema or post-operative swelling.

  • 18 French Diameter: Provides a larger internal lumen than the 14 Fr models, which facilitates the delivery of higher-viscosity (thicker) formulas and significantly reduces the risk of tube clogging.

  • Trimmable 82 cm Jejunal Segment: The tube is supplied with a long distal segment (82 cm) made of medical-grade silicone. During the placement procedure, a physician trims the distal tip to the exact length required to terminate in the jejunum (typically 10–15 cm beyond the Ligament of Treitz).

  • Medical-Grade Silicone: High-clarity, biocompatible silicone construction ensures the tube remains flexible and durable over its clinical lifespan.

  • Internal Retention Balloon: A high-quality silicone internal balloon (typically inflated with 7–10 mL of sterile water for 18 Fr) holds the tube securely in place within the small bowel.

  • Anti-Reflux Valve: An internal valve in the proximal head prevents the backflow of intestinal contents when the extension set is not attached.

  • Radiopaque Stripe & Tip: Features a weighted, radiopaque tip and a longitudinal stripe for clear visualization and position confirmation under X-ray or fluoroscopy.
