Description
The 7160-20 is the most commonly used kit for the primary endoscopic placement of a gastrostomy tube in adult patients. It utilizes the PULL (Over-the-Wire) method, where the tube is guided through the esophagus and out the abdominal wall. The 20 French diameter is the clinical standard for adults, offering an excellent balance between patient comfort and a wide lumen for easier feeding and medication delivery.
Key Features
PULL Placement Method: The "Pull" technique is widely preferred by gastroenterologists as it allows for secure attachment to the placement wire and a smooth transition through the esophagus to the stoma site.
Traction Removable: Features a collapsible internal dome bumper designed to be removed via firm traction through the stoma once the tract has matured (typically after 6–8 weeks), often eliminating the need for a second endoscopic procedure.
SECUR-LOK External Bolster:* A sliding retention ring with integrated ventilation spacers. These spacers keep the bolster slightly elevated to allow air circulation, which helps prevent skin breakdown and moisture buildup at the stoma site.
High-Clarity Silicone: Constructed from medical-grade silicone to ensure the tube remains flexible and biocompatible throughout its lifespan.
Radiopaque Stripe: Includes a high-contrast line for quick visualization and confirmation of the tube's position under X-ray or fluoroscopy.
