Description
The Avanos CRX-BAY-MCRF is a Multi-Cooled Radiofrequency (MCRF) Module, often referred to as a "Bay" or "Therapy Cable." It serves as the essential hardware interface between the RF generator and specialized water-cooled probes used in COOLIEF* procedures.
This module expands the generator's capabilities, allowing it to manage multiple cooled probes simultaneously for more efficient and effective nerve ablation.
Technical Specifications
Function: Hardware interface and control module for Cooled RF therapy.
Channel Capacity: Supports up to 4 independent channels for simultaneous treatment.
Compatibility: Designed for use with Avanos (formerly Halyard/Kimberly-Clark) V4.0 or higher RF Generators.
Sterility: Non-Sterile and Reusable. This component stays outside the sterile field and is cleaned using standard medical disinfectants.
Connection: Connects to the front of the RF generator and provides ports for the COOLIEF* probes and the peristaltic cooling pump.
Key Features
Simultaneous Multi-Lesion Treatment: This module allows a physician to create up to four large, spherical lesions at once. This drastically reduces the total procedure time compared to conventional RF, where lesions must be created one at a time.
Independent Monitoring: It provides independent impedance and temperature monitoring for each of the four channels, ensuring that each probe is performing optimally and safely.
Plug-and-Play Logic: The module features intelligent software that automatically recognizes the connected probes and syncs with the cooling pump to ensure the correct water flow is maintained throughout the procedure.
Large Lesion Volume: By facilitating the "Cooled RF" process, this module helps create lesions that are up to 3.7 to 4 times larger than standard RF lesions, increasing the probability of successfully ablating the target nerve.
Primary Uses
The CRX-BAY-MCRF is required for all COOLIEF* Cooled RF procedures where broader nerve coverage is needed, including:
Chronic Knee Pain: Targeting the genicular nerves (usually 3 or 4 locations) to treat pain from osteoarthritis.
Sacroiliac (SI) Joint Denervation: Using multiple probes to create a "picket fence" of lesions to block pain signals from the SI joint.
Chronic Hip Pain: Ablating the sensory branches of the femoral and obturator nerves.
Multi-Level Lumbar Treatment: Treating multiple spinal levels efficiently in a single session.
