Description

Floating Heel Design: This is the most critical feature. The rigid shell and soft liner are specifically contoured to suspend the heel entirely in an open space, ensuring zero pressure or friction on the heel. This promotes circulation and is essential for preventing or healing heel pressure ulcers (bedsores).
Dynamic Flex Action: The design incorporates a controlled flexibility that applies a continuous, gentle counterforce to the plantar (sole) surface of the foot. This continuous stretch helps manage contractures by preventing the foot from pointing down.
Adjustable Toe Post: An adjustable post extends from the footplate to help relieve pressure on the toes and can be repositioned to protect against toe/malleolus ulcers.
Anti-Rotation Bar: A rigid bar is positioned on the side of the orthosis to prevent the leg and hip from rotating internally or externally while the patient is lying down, ensuring functional lower extremity alignment.
Liner Material: It uses a soft, washable Synthetic Sheepskin (Kodel®) liner, which is comfortable and reduces shear and friction forces on the skin.
Durable Construction: The shell is constructed of lightweight Kydex® plastic, ensuring it is durable enough for long-term use while remaining light for the patient.
Transfer Attachment (Optional): A nonskid bottom piece is often included to allow for brief stand-up transfers (pivot transfers) while preventing contamination from the floor to the bed.
