The FT16X12 is an ON-Q Disposable Fluid Tunneler and Sheath*. This surgical instrument is the largest and longest tunneler in the product line, designed for specialized procedures requiring deep or extensive subcutaneous tunneling to place an ON-Q* pain management catheter.
The "16" indicates the 16-gauge diameter, and the "12" signifies its 12-inch length.
Key Features
Fluid Injection (Hydro-dissection): Like other models in the FT series, it features a hollow lumen that allows clinicians to inject local anesthetic or saline while advancing the tool. This "hydro-dissection" helps create a path through tissue planes more easily and with less trauma.
Extended 12-Inch Reach: The 12-inch (30 cm) length is specifically intended for very large surgical sites or cases where the catheter exit point must be located far from the primary incision to ensure proper wound dressing and infection control.
Blunt Tip Safety: Designed with a blunt tip to navigate through the subcutaneous space safely, minimizing the risk of accidental puncture of deeper structures or blood vessels.
T-Peel Sheath System: Includes two disposable T-Peel introducer sheaths. Once the tunneler creates the track, the catheter is inserted through the sheath, which is then peeled away to leave the catheter in place.
Ergonomic Handle: Features a large, textured handle that provides the clinician with high leverage and precise control during advancement.
