Description
The Avanos PS12506-A is a high-capacity ON-Q Pain Relief System* featuring an extended SILVERSOAKER Antimicrobial Catheter*. It is designed to provide continuous, non-narcotic local anesthetic directly to a surgical site or near a nerve for a duration of approximately 3 to 5 days.
The PS12506-A is functionally similar to the PM046-A, but it is often classified under the "PS" (Pain System) series, which frequently includes updated safety features or specific kit configurations.

Key Features
Maximum Coverage: The 5-inch (12.5 cm) soaker segment is one of the longest available, providing uniform anesthetic distribution for long surgical incisions.
Silver Antimicrobial Protection: The catheter’s silver coating inhibits bacterial growth, a vital safety component for devices that remain indwelling for multiple days post-surgery.
Duration of Therapy: With a 400 mL reservoir and a 5 mL/hr flow rate, the system provides roughly 80 hours (3.3 days) of continuous pain relief.
Uniform Infiltration: The "Soaker" hollow-fiber technology ensures that medication is not just delivered at the tip but is distributed evenly across the entire 5-inch infusion segment.
NRFit Availability: Note that the PS12506-A-N variant includes NRFit® connectors, which are specialized to prevent accidental misconnections with non-neuraxial (IV) lines.
Primary Uses
This high-volume, long-soaker kit is typically used for major surgeries where a large surgical field or long incision is present:
Major Abdominal Surgery: Large ventral hernia repairs, colectomies, or hysterectomies.
Orthopedic Spine Surgery: Long-incision procedures like multi-level spinal fusions.
Thoracic Procedures: Thoracotomies where a single-site, high-volume infiltration is needed.
Extensive Plastic Surgery: Procedures like a full abdominoplasty (tummy tuck).
