Description
Key Features:
Instant Topical Anesthetic (Vapocoolant): Works by rapidly cooling the skin surface through the immediate evaporation of its proprietary blend of 1,1,1,3,3-Pentafluoropropane (HFC-245fa) and 1,1,1,2-Tetrafluoroethane (HFC-134a). This creates a temporary numbing effect within 4-10 seconds.
Mechanism of Action: The intense cold created by the spray decreases the nerve conduction velocity of pain-sensing nerve fibers (C fibers and A-delta fibers), effectively interrupting pain signals to the spinal cord.
Medium Stream Spray: This particular model delivers the product in a medium, pinpoint stream, making it suitable for targeted application to specific areas. Other variations include a mist spray for broader coverage.
Non-Drug and Non-Flammable: A significant advantage, as it's not absorbed systemically and poses no fire risk during use, allowing it to be used safely, even with laser or cautery equipment.
FDA-Cleared: Cleared by the FDA to temporarily control pain associated with needle procedures and minor surgical procedures.
Can Be Used by Any Licensed Healthcare Practitioner: Does not require a physician's order for use.
Safe for Various Skin Types and Minor Wounds: Can be applied to intact skin, intact oral mucous membranes (oral cavity, nasal passages, and lips), and minor open wounds.
Portable and Easy to Use: Comes in an aerosol can, making it convenient for quick application in various clinical settings.
Quick Onset and Short Duration: The anesthetic effect is almost immediate but typically lasts only a few seconds to up to a minute, which is usually sufficient for quick procedures.
Uses:
Needle Procedures:
Injections: Immunizations, allergy injections, cosmetic procedures, pre-lidocaine injections (and in some cases, in place of lidocaine injections).
Venipuncture and IV Starts: Reducing pain and anxiety associated with blood draws and inserting intravenous lines.
Joint Injections: Numbing the skin before therapeutic injections into joints.
Minor Surgical Procedures:
Incision and Drainage: For small abscesses.
Lancing Boils: Providing discomfort relief during this procedure.
Foreign Body Removal: Easing the process of removing splinters or other small foreign objects.
Suturing and Suture Removal: Making these procedures more comfortable for the patient.
Skin Tag Removal: Numbing the area prior to removal.
Temporary Relief of Minor Sports Injuries: Can be used to alleviate pain from:
Sprains
Bruising and Contusions
Minor Cuts and Abrasions
Muscle Tension and Restricted Motion (especially when combined with "spray and stretch" techniques for myofascial pain syndromes).
Dental Procedures: Numbing the oral mucosa before injections or minor procedures.
General Patient Comfort: Used to improve patient comfort and reduce anxiety during various quick, painful procedures in hospitals, clinics, emergency rooms, and pediatric settings.

PainEase
I cannot believe that doctors don’t understand how pain-free this product is for topical situations like having a port.
Pain Ease
This a great product for use when go to dialysis three times a week. I highly recommend Pain Ease. It indeed helps to protect my arm when the needles are being inserted for my dialysis treatment.
Pain ease spray
If this spray was known to all dialysis patients , people would not be so afraid of dialysis.
