Description
The Avanos 182A107 (formerly Halyard/Kimberly-Clark) is a Single-Shot Epidural Tray. This specialized procedural kit is designed to facilitate the administration of a single dose of anesthetic or medication into the epidural space, typically for pain relief during labor, surgery, or chronic pain management.
The kit is centered around a 18G x 3.5" Hustead Needle, which is a variation of the Tuohy needle designed to provide distinct tactile feedback and smooth passage through the ligaments.
Key Features
Graduated Hustead Needle: The 18-gauge, 3.5-inch needle features depth markings (graduations) and integrated wings for superior control and stabilization during the "loss of resistance" (LOR) technique.
Hustead Tip Design: Unlike a standard Tuohy, the Hustead tip is specifically designed to facilitate the smooth redirection of catheters (if used) or to provide a specific feel when entering the epidural space.
Alcohol-Repellent CSR Wrap: The tray is enclosed in a large 30" x 30" wrap that provides a wide, sterile work surface and protects the components from fluids during prep.
Sterility & Safety: The tray is EO-sterile and single-use. It includes a dedicated Needle Stick Pad to ensure safe sharps management during and after the procedure.
