Description
Medical Description
The 22 cm jejunal length is a mid-range size often used for older children or average-sized adults. This length is selected to ensure that the tip of the tube passes through the pylorus and rests deep enough in the jejunum to prevent the feeding formula from "refluxing" back into the stomach.
This device is specifically indicated for patients with gastroparesis (delayed stomach emptying), gastric outlet obstruction, or those at high risk for aspiration.
Technical Specifications
Part Number: 0250-16-22
Outer Diameter: 16 Fr (French size)
Jejunal Length: 22 cm (The length of the tube that extends past the stomach into the small intestine)
Balloon Volume: 7–10 ml (Internal retention balloon)
Material: High-clarity medical-grade silicone
Placement: Usually placed with endoscopic or radiologic (fluoroscopic) guidance
Components: Dual-port hub (Gastric and Jejunal), SECUR-LOK* external retention ring
Key Features
Multiple Ports: Features separate, clearly labeled ports for the stomach (gastric) and the small intestine (jejunal). This allows the clinician to drain the stomach while feeding the patient at the same time.
Tungsten-Weighted Tip: The distal (jejunal) end is weighted with tungsten to help the tube stay properly positioned in the jejunum and to assist during the initial placement procedure.
SECUR-LOK Ring:* The external bolster slides down to the skin level to secure the tube and prevent migration. It is designed to sit slightly off the skin to allow air circulation, promoting stoma health.
Radiopaque Stripe: A built-in line runs the entire length of the tube, allowing for easy verification of the tube's position under X-ray or fluoroscopy.
High-Grade Silicone: The tube is constructed from soft, biocompatible silicone which is designed to reduce skin irritation and increase patient comfort for long-term use.
